The Chicago White Sox swept the Detroit Tigers thanks to a walk off grand slam by Jake Burger. The White Sox (26-35) are five and a half games back in the AL Central after a winning weekend but several challenges loom. For now, the Sox will enjoy their three game winning streak and a sweep of a division rival. Jake Burger's walk-off grand slam was essentially all of the offense for the Sox in the series. On Saturday, they scored two runs on wild pitches and on Friday, they scraped three runs together and survived thanks to stellar starting pitching and bullpen help. Speaking of pitching: Mike Clevinger, Dylan Cease and Michael Kopech all had solid outings and the bullpen gave up very little. Before Friday's game, the Sox designated Hanser Alberto for assignment and brought back Elvis Andrus. It seems like there will be a battle for second base between Andrus and Romy Gonzalez. Sox have an off day on Monday, then start a three game series against the New York Yankees in New York.
