Lucas Giolito pitched a gem and Jake Burger continued to mash as the Chicago White Sox split with the Philadelphia Phillies. The Chicago White Sox (7-11) lost the first game of the doubleheader on Tuesday but won the next game. Giolito pitched in game 2 and he was brilliant. He went six innings, gave up zero hits and was removed because of a high pitch count. It was the second game in a row that Giolito looked locked in and focused. Aaron Bummer, out of the bullpen, gave up the first hit of the game for the Phillies in the 8th inning. Sox pitching combined to give up only one hit to a pretty potent Phillies team. Jake Burger continued to make the most of his playing time and smashed his fourth home run in five games to help the Sox beat the Phillies by a score of 3-0. Sox go for the series win on Wednesday with Mike Clevinger on the mound for the South Siders.
