Updating the New Orleans Saints 53-Man Roster Projection After Roster Cuts

The New Orleans Saints wasted no time getting their roster cut down to the league-required 85-man roster. The had reportedly already made all of their cuts before their Sunday practice including one surprise move the were forced to make, which re-opens another big hole at kicker.

Jameis Winston and Taysom Hill saw similar numbers of opportunities (passes thrown and snaps taken) on Saturday. That trend didn't change when personnel groupings are broken down. But with a look at Ian Book's personnel frequency shows exactly what the Saints wanted to use for their evaluation of the rookie QB.

WR turned TE Juwan Johnson put on an impressive show when he was the only tight end on the field, Marquez Callaway made the plays a #1 should make, and Tony Jones Jr. got a little help from his friends.

Updating a 53-man roster projection after the handful of roster cuts and Saturday's action gives way to Tony Jone Jr, Easop Winston, and Chase Hansen who all impressed. But the fate of Devonta Freeman and Latavius Murray may hang in the balance come the 53-man trim down.
