Do New Orleans Saints Have Best Head Coaching Job Available After Sean Payton's Departure?

The New Orleans Saints will be searching for a new head coach following Sean Payton's departure. With Dennis Allen as the in-house favorite, the Saints will still look outside the organization for coaching prospects. Without many of the other open positions around the NFL being filled, the Saints should be able to appeal to top candidates. Steady ownership, a talented defense, a fantastic scouting department all help to make up an advantageous landing spot for prospective head coaches.

Sean Payton held a 92-minute press conference to discuss his stepping away from football (for now) wherein he discussed the culture of the organization as well as the future of the team. He co-signed for defensive coordinator Dennis Allen as a top candidate for his replacement and candidly discussed his experiences sharing stories, laughs and emotional moments - not to mention some King Cake as well. It's clear Payton was leaving on his terms and in good spirits, though he doesn't seem interested in being away from the game of football for too long, coaching, TV, or otherwise.

Brooke Kirchhoffer of WWL-TV discusses Payton presser, the weight of this moment for the Saints, and potential replacement both in-house and outside the facility. One of the most intriguing external candidates could be Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy. The New Orleans, LA native has led a prolific offense in Kansas City, is a Super Bowl champion and former player. A lot to like about the offensive-minded head coaching prospect.
