One year after Nils Lundkvist and Zac Jones were battling for the final spot on the New York Rangers roster, we’re looking at just how much things have changed for each defenseman. Lundkvist is staying home and demanding a trade, while Jones is attending (and excelling at) a camp that was optional. Plus, we’re looking at some of the top performers from Friday’s rookie game between the Rangers and Flyers, including Talyn Boyko, Matthew Robertson and more! Per Drury, the Rangers could carry 22 players this season instead of 23. Jones is named captain of the rookie team, and Robertson scores a goal against the Flyers as they each battle for an Opening Night roster spot!! Rangers sign 34-year-old defenseman Matt Bartkowski to a PTO! While it’s fine for organizational depth, Jones or Robertson MUST start the season in the lineup over Bartkowski.
