On today's Locked On NFL, we're talking about the XFL. They have struck a deal with the NFL to help test out rule changes and share data. This is a big development for the spring league. A partnership is profitable, but it also advantages the NFL. Not only can the XFL be a proven ground for hidden football talent around the country, but it can now be a testing ground for new rule changes. Perhaps they could hone in an improvement to pass interference rules or kickoffs. Maybe they can figure out how to utilize Next Gen Stats-style tracking data to improve officiating.
Also, 2022 NFL Draft prospects might boycott the combine. That would be... something. Because of various restrictions and regulations, the combine has evolved into... something else entirely. The NFL Network presence, the primetime pageantry, and all of the hubbub has overshadowed the actual event.
