Your Washington Nationals just signed a free agent, and even better, it's a former New York Met!! The Nationals made it official this afternoon signing RHP Trevor Williams from the New York Met. The righty can make spot starts, he can come out of the bullpen, and he can also be a long term reliever in games where you need it. The versatility he brings can be exciting for this young pitching staff, and someone who has been around the game for a little while, it will be good for the young guys around him. Who is his former Washington Nationals comparison that Ryan brings up? He discusses that here. Ryan also gets into the Nationals making RHP Thad Ward their #1 overall selection in the MLB Rule 5 draft, who is coming off Tommy John surgery in 2021. The Nationals are taking someone who was the Boston Red Sox's minor league pitcher of the year in 2019, who provides a lot of upside. He discusses that upside, and also juices out what role he could have for the Washington Nationals in 2023.
