The LSU Tigers football team and head coach Brian Kelly will get their chance for revenge against the Florida State Seminoles on Sunday evening as they kick off the 2023 season. These two teams faced off in the first week of the season last year but special teams mistakes and a lack of offensive cohesion cost the Tigers the game. This year, LSU feels like a better, deeper, and more organized team. Starting quarterback Jayden Daniels even called this unit "night and day" different than the team he quarterbacked last year. But which position is going to have to step up the most in order for the Tigers to start the season 1-0, something they couldn't do last year?

Florida State returns eight starters offensively, three of which are on their offensive line including All-ACC guard Dillon Gibbons. The Noles also return starting quarterback Jordan Travis who has led a balanced pass and ground attack. It will be key for LSU's defensive line unit to affect Travis and force him into decisions he doesn't want to make. That task is even more difficult with DT Maason Smith watching from the sidelines as he serves a one-game NCAA suspension, but the Tigers' front seven returns LB Harold Perkins who is expected to be a top five player in college football this season.
