LSU Tigers head coach Brian Kelly made it official that quarterbacks coach Joe Sloan and wide receivers coach and passing game coordinator Cortez Hankton will be co-offensive coordinators for the Tigers in the 2024 season. Sloan and Hankton served as co-OCs in the ReliaQuest Bowl against the Wisconsin Badgers on New Year's Day after former OC Mike Denbrock left for Notre Dame. With backup quarterback Garrett Nussmeier in the bowl game, Hankton and Sloan co-coordinated an offense that put up just shy of 500 yards and 35 points in the Tigers tenth victory of the season.

But can co-coordinators work? What will the dynamic be between Hankton and Sloan? Will there be one primary play caller, and if not, how will that work on gameday with two different coaches calling plays? Sloan and Hankton have been integral parts of recruiting at a high level and the development of Jayden Daniels, Garrett Nussmeier, and the passing game as a whole – however, how is LSU better off with having two offensive coordinators instead of one?
