LSU interior defensive lineman Maason Smith was slated to have a breakout year this past season. He proved himself in his freshman season in 2021 recording five tackles for loss and four sacks in nine games. After a full year of conditioning, nobody though Maason Smith would be stopped this past season until he tore his ACL celebrating a defensive stop in the very first game of the year against Florida State. But he has been medically cleared and he is ready to come back and prove to the world that he was worth all the hype and more importantly, worth the wait.

Plus, head coach Brian Kelly landed another spring transfer commitment over the weekend when Marshall University defensive back Andre Sam committed to play for the Tigers. Sam is originally from Louisiana and played his first four years of college football at McNeese State where he earned First Team All-Southland Conference honors and led the team in tackles and interceptions in his final year with the Cowboys.
