The injuries continue to mount for the New York Islanders as they placed defenseman Robert Bortuzzo on IR and recalled goalie Ken Appleby on an emergency basis from Bridgeport. The Isles did not make any announcement regarding how long Bortuzzo and Varlamov may be out of the lineup and Varly has not yet been placed on IR.
