Despite a career-best performance from Mackenzie Holmes, the Indiana Hoosiers women's basketball dropped it's first game of the season on Thursday afternoon to the Michigan State Spartans. Turnovers and a porous defense undid IU as they stumbled their way to a loss in the opening week of the Big Ten Conference season.

On today's episode of Locked on Hoosiers, Jacob Rude (@JacobRude) recaps the Hoosiers frustrating performance in East Lansing on Thursday. Against a feisty Michigan State side, the Hoosiers failed to get defensive stops, particularly down the stretch, to negate their own strong offensive showing.

Holmes set a career high in points in the win, scoring 32 points with 12 rebounds as she tried to drag the Hoosiers to a win. Ultimately, a slew of turnovers and some off nights from some key players led to the Hoosiers losing.

Indiana won't have much time to collect themselves before returning to the court on Sunday to take on a talented Nebraska team. The Huskers have already knocked off multiple ranked foes this season and will provide IU another tough challenge.
