Today’s show discusses the XFL having an HBCU showcase at Jackson State, Prairie View A&M is the standard in SWAC women’s Track & Field now, not Alabama State and Virginia State finding their new football coach.

I want to see the best HBCU players and coaches have a chance at the XFL showcase. The showcase is meant to encourage diversity and inclusion. Those values should not stop at just the players. Extending the values to coaching as well, allows for more HBCU coaches to make that step to the professional level. As for players, I like the timing because it allows for a bigger pool of athletes to participate. I would also like to see some juniors who could want to forgo their senior season to play professionally.

Prairie View A&M is the new team to beat in SWAC women’s track & field. There are 2 championships every year for track and field, and PV has won 3 out of the last 4 championships. For years, it was Alabama State’s event to lose, but the new recent success of PV has done more than threaten ASU’s dominance. It has broken it. Now teams are aiming to beat Prairie View, not Alabama State.

Virginia State has found their new head football coach in Henry Frazier III. Frazier is familiar with coaching at HBCUs. His last job was at Bowie State as an assistant. He also has head coaching experience as well. Legal issues derailed his last head coaching stint 10 years ago at Central. Before that he had success at all 3 of his stops, Bowie State, North Carolina Central, and Prairie View. He and his 2009 PV team was inducted in the PV hall of fame.
