The NFL Draft is Thursday, and one has to wonder what does success look like for HBCUs this year? Markquese Bell and Joshua Williams are headliners, but there are a lot of players who could go in this draft cycle. Do you define success by number of players drafted, where are players drafted, or how many players end on a roster?

Dematrius Davis might not have taken a snap for Alabama State, but his presence looked over the ASU spring game. The QB battle deserves to be a focus of the spring season, but there’s a piece missing. No matter how well any of these guys perform, the battle can’t be fully decided until the summer.

We have our first player profile of the NFL Draft, De’Shaan Dixon. Dixon is a defensive end from Norfolk State who has gained more buzz as the draft has gotten closer. He had a really good showing in the HBCU Legacy Bowl where he terrorized the QB all day long. His standout quality is his freakish length. He has an 81 inch wingspan that he effectively uses in pass rushing and also in the run game. Dixon has the chance to be a late day 3 pick.
