Texas Southern and Grambling beat Arizona State & Colorado in the first year of the Pac 12/SWAC challenge. Benedict College and Fayetteville State won the SIAC & CIAA, punching their ticket into the D2 playoffs alongside Virginia Union.
Texas Southern and Grambling beat Arizona State & Colorado in the first year of the Pac 12/SWAC challenge. TSU took ASU down in OT behind strong games by PJ Henry and John Walker. Grambling controlled Colorado from start to finish, never trailing in the game. They forced nearly 20 turnovers.
Benedict College and Fayetteville State won the SIAC & CIAA, punching their ticket into the D2 playoffs alongside Virginia Union. On their 5th try in a row, FSU finally won it all after a last second FG to beat Chowan. They had to be versatile to get it done scoring twice through the air and twice on the ground. This win also resulted in them being the 7th and final seed in the playoffs.
Benedict dominated Tuskegee in a fashion that proved why they are the top seed in Super Region 2. Eric Phoenix and Loobert Denelus had fantastic games for the Tigers. They remained the #1 seed in the playoffs and have a bye next week.
