Southern Defense Disrupts TSU in 63-50 Victory| Prairie View A&M Finds New Head Coach

Texas Southern and Southern face off as SWAC basketball tips off. This is the only game between 2 teams with a winning SWAC conference record last year. Their combined list of victories includes: Florida, Tulane, Tennessee State, and more. This was a good game for Southern’s defense and it carried to the Jaguars to victory. 

Prairie View A&M has found their new football head coach. After a month of deliberation they decided to promote Coach “Bubba” McDowell who was already in the program. I like this move as it provides the consistency that last year’s SWAC West championship team had. 

Valdosta State has hired their first black HC in school history, Tremaine Jackson. Jackson, a Texas Southern alum, is a defensive minded coach with head coaching experience at Colorado Mesa. Jackson will be taking over a D2 Powerhouse who has won 4 D2 championships and 9 Gulf South conference championships.
