Isaiah Major could be the face of FAMU’s Dark Cloud Defense. There’s no clear cut answer to who that player will be in 2023, but I think Major is the best candidate.
He and Johnny Chaney Jr. have the defense in good hands. Both are downfield attacking linebackers. They were key reasons FAMU was the 3rd best run defense in the SWAC and should be ranked high again this year.
AJ Gates brings explosion to the Alabama State RB room. He didn’t play much at Alabama or UAB, but his practice film shows a player with explosion in the running and passing game.
