Howard has refuted reports connecting them to the CAA and reaffirmed their commitment to the MEAC. North Carolina A&T, Hampton, Florida A&M, and Bethune Cookman have all recently left the conference; it seemed Howard would be next. Instead, they are staying put. This is a move that could change how the conference is viewed as one of two remaining HBCU conferences along with the SWAC. The sky no longer feels like it’s falling and other schools may realize that too

Ryan Nettles is transferring from Alabama State. His departure is a long way from the darling he was for Alabama State just a year ago. However, one really bad season and a coaching change has led to Nettles not having the same benefit of the doubt. I believe his departure is a sign that Dee Davis, transfer from Auburn, will be the new starting QB this year.

Kortne Gosha and Broderick Fobbs have landed on their feet since leaving their respective HBCUs. Gosha resigned from FAMU and has moved on to Tulane. He is now the Senior Associate Athletic Director for the university. Fobbs part ways with Grambling but stays in the area at Ruston High School. He’s just a positional coach, and the lesser workload should allow him to balance coaching and family life.
