Florida A&M and North Carolina A&T missed out on the FCS playoffs for different reasons, and Howard just upped their football profile after this win vs Morgan State.
FAMU had hopes at the FCS playoff, but they came up just short. The reason was a weak strength of schedule and their win over Albany State. Would I have put them in?
North Carolina A&T loss the Big South Championship to Gardner Webb because they couldn’t execute their weekly keys to victory. Coach Washington calls it making chicken, but the kitchen was closed. The keys are stopping the run, protecting the football, and win the kicking game. The latter is unclear, but the Aggies definitely didn’t execute the first two.
Howard beat Morgan State in the last game of the season and helped their football platform. Technically, they have a share of the MEAC for the first time. This should be a good recruiting pitch for them going forward and puts an exclamation on a turnaround season.
