Chris Paul Returns with Year 2 of HBCU Showcases, CIAA Tournament is Staying in Baltimore

Chris Paul’s HBCU Tip Off & Challenge returns with Virginia Union, Clark Atlanta, Xavier, Johnson C Smith, Norfolk State, Texas Southern, North Carolina A&T, and Hampton. The CIAA tournament extends its Baltimore contract, and HBCUnited returns to The Basketball Tournament.

HBCUnited returns as part of The Basketball Tournament. Last year, they were knocked out in the first round, so there’s a clear initial hurdle for the team to get over. This year’s team is a mix of last year’s players and new additions to the team. Some of the names include: Tiwian Kendley, Jeremy Combs, and Thomas “Snacks” Lee

Chris Paul returns with the 2nd year of the HBCU Tip Off and HBCU Challenge. Last year’s champions were Virginia Union and Norfolk State. Union is joined by Clark Atlanta, Xavier, and Johnson C Smith in the Tip Off. It will be interesting to see how the lone NAIA team, Xavier, will perform. Texas Southern, North Carolina A&T, and Hampton will join Norfolk State in the HBCU Challenge. A matchup of Norfolk State vs Texas Southern would be blockbuster.

The CIAA tournament has extended their contract with the city of Baltimore. The tournament will stay in the city until at least 2025. Last year was the first time the tournament returned to the city in 70 years. There was a lot of spectacle around it and fans can expect that to continue.
