4 HBCU players made it to the Walter Payton award watchlist: Shedeur Sanders, Kemari Averett, Shaq Davis, and Xavier Smith. After 13 years under Gregory Moore, The SIAC has found a new commissioner in Anthony Holloman.

4 HBCU players made it to the Walter Payton award watchlist: Shedeur Sanders, Kemari Averett, Shaq Davis, and Xavier Smith. As a QB, Sanders has the clear advantage as this is mostly a QB award. Still this represents how highly they are viewed within their position for everyone else.

The HBCU mindset is close to the mindset of NFL players on special teams. There are 3 key attributes they both share: being counted out, being doubted, and also having to fight. HBCU players are used to facing the obstacles and having to fight just to make it to the NFL players, while many special teamers are fighting to ensure they can have a spot on the roster.

After 13 years under Gregory Moore, The SIAC has found a new commissioner in Anthony Holloman. Holloman was the former VP of advancement and Athletic Director for Fort Valley State. His history in leadership position and also his educational history bode well for his stock as the leader of a conference.
