Last month the Washington Post's Bailey Johnson reported VGK had scouts at five consecutive Capitals games. On Tuesday, VGK traded for the Caps winger Anthony Mantha as a result of the scouting work. Manthan is a big body 6-4, 234, who will slot in as a right winger immediately. He has 20 goals in 56 games and is hoping to break his career-best goal record of 26. VGK gave up a second round pick this year and a 4th rounder in 2026. Only $2.85 million counts against VGK's cap, as Washington retained half of Mantha's salary in the deal. Mantha becomes a free agent after this season. So the Golden Knights have $4.4-million in cap space remaining to make at least one more deal before Friday's trade deadline. We also discuss whether the addition of Mantha helps the team's morale. Mantha is a big body that can win puck battles, which VGK is lacking at the moment.
