The Devils had to overcome a 4-1 deficit, but they were able to defeat the Washington Capitals in overtime. Luke Hughes was able to pick up his first career NHL goal by scoring in overtime in exciting fashion. Mackenzie Blackwood once again didn't impress in net, so Akira Schmid had to bail him out. Blackwood might've played his final game as a Devil.
