It was a busy end of the week for the Montreal Canadiens and their fans with both good news and bad news across the board. First was the new contract for goaltender Samuel Montembeault, signing for three more years at 3.15 million a season. Scott and Laura think that this puts an end to the trade rumours surrounding Montembeault, but will throw gas on the fire for the other two netminders still on the depth chart.
Then the bad news came quickly, as Alex Newhook left the game against the Florida Panthers with a lower body injury after being checked into the side of the net. Newhook needed help to get off the ice, and was revealed to be out for at least the next three months with a high ankle sprain. The hosts debate if the team needs to add a forward in a possible goalie trade in the coming week.
Finally, despite a respectable 1-1-1 record on the week the Canadiens failed to impress overall and it's leaving the hosts frustrated. They want to see Martin St-Louis give more opportunities to players like Jesse Ylönen instead of promoting veterans who are at their ceiling already.
