No. 20 ranked Baylor Softball completed a triumphant three-game series sweep of No. 5 ranked Texas on Sunday afternoon at Getterman Stadium with a 2-1 walk-off victory. This win marks the sixth time this season that the Bears have emerged victorious over a top-5 team, three of which were achieved at home. Baylor's overall record now stands at 39-15 this season, with an 8-10 conference play record.
The game's defining moment came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Zadie LaValley capitalized on an error to reach base and secure the game-winning runs for the Bears. This was the third time this season that Baylor had won a game by walking off its opponent.
The Bears' defense played an exceptional game, with pitcher RyLee Crandall producing a standout performance. Crandall completed the entire game, throwing six scoreless frames, which began with a three-up, three-down top of the first inning.
Josie Bower secured Baylor's first hit of the game in the bottom of the second inning, recording an infield single to second base. However, the Bears failed to capitalize on this opportunity to score a run. Texas threatened in the top of the third inning, but LaValley caught a runner off-guard at second base, picking her off to end the inning.
