The Edmonton Oilers were playing their best hockey of the season heading into this series with the Colorado Avalanche. The only problem with that is so are the Colorado Avalanche. After taking both games at home in Denver the Avalanche traveled north for Game 3 in Alberta.

Like they have done so many times in these playoffs, the Avs gave up the first goal of the game. This time from Connor McDavid himself in the first minute of the game. Edmonton had everything going for them. Then Evander Kane decided for some ungodly reason to change all that.

Kane sent Nazem Kadri flying into the boards with a vicious cross check that got Kane a five minute major. While the Avs didn't score, it sucked the life out of the building. The Avs would take the lead as the game progressed off of two Val Nichushkin goals, but Edmonton was able to tie it halfway through the 3rd on a Ryan McLeod goal.

But the depth stuck again as JT Compher, just finishing his time in the penalty box due to a tripping call, fought for the puck along the boards, won the battle then put home the game winner.

Now, with one more win the Colorado Avalanche will punch their ticket to the Stanley Cup Finals. All is good in Avs land right now. But the job is not done
