Meyers Sent Down, Tufte Placed on Waivers. Why the Continued Love Affair With MacDermid?

We know his teammates love him. We know he's an imposing figure on the ice. We don't know why the Colorado Avalanche continue with the Kurtis MacDermid experiment. And what the Avs are doing now with MacD is truly an experiment. His main position will be forward. Something he has never done on a regular basis.

MacDermid might not be in the starting lineup come Wednesday night when the Avs take on the Los Angeles Kings. Andrew Cogliano seems to be trending in the direction of he will be ready. If that is the case then MacDermid takes a back seat.

But if some other team likes what they saw out of Riley Tufte during his preseason with the Avs and wants to claim him, they can scoop him up and using him will no longer be an option for the Avalanche if MacDermid struggles at the position and injuries occur.
