The Colorado Avalanche waived both Martin Kaut and Shane Bowers over the weekend and it wouldn't have surprised us if one team picked them up on the waiver wire. But that didn't happen. So both Kaut and Bowers will head back to Loveland and play with the Colorado Eagles.

Kaut had said that he felt like this was the last opportunity for him to make it with the NHL squad, and despite making it to the bitter end, his efforts were still not good enough. What happens for Kaut going forward as well as Bowers? Who coach Jared Bednar stated had a good camp and could see him coming up at some point during the season.

Nathan MacKinnon missed a little bit of practice over the weekend, but not enough to make any Avs fans nervous. But, what could happen to the Avs during the season that would be worst-case scenarios? We discuss.

All that plus the league making questionable scheduling decisions, and EA sports runs an official simulation where they pick their Stanley Cup winner. You won't be happy.
