So the Ottawa Senators threw a ton of money at their young, up and coming defenseman to the tune of 8 years and $8.05 AAV. With every new defenseman signing for high dollars, the more likely it is that this will likely be the final season for Devon Toews and the Colorado Avalanche. He's just going to command too much money that you know teams are willing to give him.

So what do the Avalanche do? Move other players and assests around to try and make enough room under the cap to extend him? Easier said than done. What about trade him? As blasphemous as that sounds, it could come down to that business decision.

We know Devon Toews will start the season with the Avs, will he end it with them is another. Will he end it with them AND a new contract is even another.
