That glaring need left by Nazem Kadri got a little less dim Monday morning as the Colorado Avalanche went out and signed free agent forward Evan Rodrigues to a one year, $2 million dollar deal.

Does this replace the production of Kadri? No. But it does settle the stomachs of some Avs fans as to what the Avalanche will have at the 2C position on opening night.

Rodrigues had a career year last season with the Pittsburgh Penguins and there is every reason to believe that he could match and surpass his numbers from last year (41 points) playing on a better team in the Avs.
