Some were wondering how the Colorado Avalanche would come out and play against the Nashville Predators Thursday night at Ball Arena. Seeing as it was the last home game of the regular season, the Presidents' Trophy still within reach and wanting to head into the playoffs on a positive note, the Avalanche came out and played like it was just as important a regular season game as any other. And in the beginning everything was going their way. They took a 3-1 lead in the first period.

But Nashville started to find their way back into the game and eventually tied it up 4-4 to send it into overtime, then eventually winning it in a shoot-out with a single goal. With the loss the Avalanche are officially out the Presidents' Trophy race, which goes to the Florida Panthers.

For the Avalanche, the one point got them to 119 points on the season, a franchise record. Now with one more game left on the regular season schedule in Minnesota, the Avs likely will bench some players to give some guys an extra day before the second season begins
