The Colorado Avalanche needed to put their 8-3 horror movie behind them as quickly as possible and the best way to do that was a win the very next day against the Montreal Canadiens. Montreal has been struggling all season and a loss to them would have had everyone asking if the Avs will ever be a contending team for the remainder of the season. Luckily, that did not happen and while the Avs did not come out strong, they were clearly the better team out on the ice and they skated to a nice and easy 4-1 victory.
Jonas Johansson got the start the day after allowing eight goals in Toronto and redeemed himself. Stopping 18 of 19 shots and looking much more comfortable in net.
However, the Avalanche were without Bo Byram and it is believed he is out again with concussion issues. It is not known if this is a new concussion or lingering effects from his most recent one, but either way this is a serious issue for the young defenseman.
