The Colorado Avalanche needed to play better than the 5-0 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning they suffered last week in Tampa. And for the most part, they did just that.

But another 3rd period lead was blown and the Avs couldn't get any pucks in the net during the shoot-out to lose against the Lightning, 4-3.
