Kathleen shares her journey to her awesome story. In November 2010, Kathleen Donahue, a mom on Capitol Hill, quit her consulting job, and started a business hoping to bring people together and build community through the old pastimes of games and puzzles. Over the last 10.5 years, she and her staff have built an incredibly successful store that is unlike any other. Located just steps from the Eastern Market metro station, Labyrinth not only sells over 5,000 different board and card games, puzzles of all kinds, Legos and other building sets, before Covid, they also ran more than 700 events a year. They hold regular events for adults to learn games like Dungeons & Dragons or modern board games, like Terraforming Mars or Settlers of Catan. They also frequently run corporate team-building events. Labyrinth is the perfect example of how small businesses truly make a difference in our communities.
