ABOUT KERRY SONG:

Kerry Song is the founder and CEO of Abbot’s Butcher which is a 100% plant-based meat alternative  made from all Real Food and no filler. Kerry earned a bachelor’s in economics from Princeton University and worked as a Derivatives Analyst at Morgan Stanley, but after several years in corporate finance, it became clear to her that this wasn’t the right path. She wanted a career where she could make some sort of social impact.  She’d been a long-time proponent of animal welfare and made a commitment to leading a life that honored the lives of all living beings. Adopting a plant-based lifestyle was a core component of this decision.

She left finance and joined the marketing team at Tony Robbins where she spent five years working as a Content Strategist, the Executive Producer of The Tony Robbins Podcast, and eventually his Brand Strategist. During this time she learned a lot about being an entrepreneur and was also diagnosed with an autoimmune disorder that turned her life upside down. It forced her to take a step back and really start to think hard about what could control and what changes could she make to help alleviate this situation. All roads led to her diet - what she was putting into my body.

Naturally, when you’re plant-based you tend to think “I’m eating healthy” - but the reality was when she looked at the ingredients that were in the meat alternatives she was eating - it was anything but healthy: additives, synthetic chemicals, gums, natural flavors….

She decided to adopt a whole food plant-based diet, but it wasn’t long before she really started to miss having some of her favorite dishes like Spaghetti Bolognese, chicken & rice, hearty salads, tacos and thought there absolutely needs to be a plant-based meat made with ingredients that you can trust and feel good about eating and good after eating. So that’s how the idea for Abbot’s Butcher was born.
