On today’s edition of Felony Friday, Richard Midkiff joins John to share his unique story. Richard was sentenced to 38 years in prison for felony murder, related to a 1996 robbery and murder. He was driving the getaway car.
In 2019, Richard was released from prison after a series of U.S. Supreme Court rulings in the 2010s affording prisoners who were sentenced to long terms as juveniles the right to have their cases reviewed. The current Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody tried to revoke the plea deal that got him out and send him back to prison. Thankful Richard won the appeal and has remained a free man.
