When you have an idea do you ever test it out or do you just keeping thinking about it?

Calvin Johannsen will inspire you to start experimenting. It’s the guiding principle of this guy’s life.

He believes it’s the most effective method to learn about yourself and your possibilities.

He’s been working for himself for the past 7 years since leaving college. Calvin is the owner of VisualHouse, a video and multimedia production company based in West Des Moines, IA.

Last year he climbed over 100 mountains in 100 days. He did it for 3 primary reasons:

To demonstrate his dedication to a healthy lifestyle.
To set and commit to goals.
To test his personal character.

The most important lesson he learned from that experience was discipline and how to develop it.

A few more awesome lessons from our conversation include:

Be curious. Create short-term experiments without being attached to the outcome and learn from it instead.
Breaking down time as the most valuable currency and looking at life in terms of how you spend time based on your hourly rate.
The most important question you can ever ask yourself is, “What do I want to do with my life?”
