Proponents of high school resources officers argue that police officers are  campuses are now well trained to diffuse situations, act as deterrents to violence and they often serve as counselors and advocates for students. But this begs the questions as to whether these roles are appropriate for police officers. The training in counseling for example is up two weeks while a school guidance counselor receives two years or more of education and training.
