I also saw this in schools where parents would be concerned about their kids or teachers were concerned about kids with behavior issues or falling behind academically. And one of my first questions to a parent would be, has anything changed in the home? And I can't tell you how many times I wish I'd taken data on this. But I can't tell you how many times the response was. Well, you know, my dad has stage four colon cancer and just moved in with us, or I'm taking care of my grandmother who has Alzheimer’s, or my mother just died. And she was the primary caregiver while I was working with my kids. So, there are all these factors impacting children too.

Bio:


Christy is a passionate advocate for people in the Sandwich Generation - those raising children while also caring for aging loved ones. She's the author of "Building a Legacy of Love: Thriving in the Sandwich Generation." As the mother of two - now-adult children - she lived through the experience of managing the care of her parents at the end of their lives while also working full-time as a school psychologist. Christy integrates her knowledge of human development, case management, and personal development to provide a framework for families to "build a legacy of love" during this challenging life transition.


Christy has worked in education for over 20 years and in educational or mental health related endeavors for over 40 years. She holds a Master's in Counseling Psychology and holds credentials in special education and school psychology. As a coach, Christy incorporates meditation, mindfulness, and other evidence-based practices to support growth and goal achievement as a pathway to living life fully. In California, she is also a Licensed Educational Psychologist (LEP) and specializes in supporting students and young adults with Executive Functioning.
