Sue Minello lives in Galveston, and she has been an RN at UTMB hospitals/clinics for over 40 years. She was a Certified Diabetes Educator for 15 years. This was an exciting time for persons with Diabetes. New therapies/treatment goals/prevention with both "new Oral Agents & Insulin" formulations were hitting the market in the '80s & '90s. As an Adult Nurse Practitioner, Sue enjoyed educating patients and families on lifestyle changes and prevention of Diabetes and complications.

Palliative Care and Research with Chronic Diseases became Sue’s focus later in her nursing career. She has been involved in many clinical trials, both pharmaceutical and through the NIH & National Institute on Aging. Sue's current passion is Dementia Care. She currently works with UTMB Health's Sealy Center on Aging. Sue is recruiting and following Caregivers in an 18-month clinical trial that compares three programs for people with dementia, and their caregivers. The D-CARE Study is being done to find better ways of caring for people with dementia and supporting the family and friends who take care of them. www.Dcare-study.org (409) 266-9641, (409) 266-9647.
