The holidays should be a time of joy and remembrance. But for families who care for loved ones with dementia, it could be anything but. Today Elder Law Attorney Kim Hegwood speaks with author Leah Stanley about her caregiver experience. Leah shares tips to help families navigate the holiday season. Leah and Kim will discuss:
(1) How do we handle the caregiver role during the Holidays?
(2) How do we include the dementia patient when they don't remember past holidays?
(3) How do we manage our own emotions regarding the dementia patient's condition?
(4) Discuss the importance of embracing the "now" of providing care.
(5) The importance of "self-care" for the caregiver.
