God cares about our approach to worship.

1 Samuel 13:13-14

Samuel asks Saul a simple yet powerful question, “What have you done?”

Samuel prophetically removes the authority from Saul and speaks of another who has the heart of God, David.

1 Chronicles 15:1-2 / 25-29

1.     There was an understanding of Spiritual order.

2.   There were skilled players of music.

3.   The people had a heart to worship.

4.   David worships with his whole heart.

5.   Michal, his wife (Saul’s daughter), despised him in his worship.

There are two competing spirits when it comes to the idea of worship:

1.     The spirit of worship

2.   The spirit of mocking

Mocking is rooted in an unawareness of the presence of God.

Unawareness of His presence makes worship embarrassing and leads to barrenness, producing no benefit.

David had a heart of worship and gratitude.

Passion and hunger for God’s presence produces amazing benefits.

David was able to set aside religious structures and protocols and go directly in the presence of God.

God gave David a promise that his lineage would forever sit on the throne of Israel and that the blessing and favor of God would rest on all who followed him.
