The bulk of today's show will be spent on this article out of Rolling Stone, written by Wade Davis.

While well-written, the article reveals a flaw in Davis's own thinking. This same flaw pervades most popular American thought today.

His thesis is essentially that the incidence of COVID "has reduced to tatters the illusion of American exceptionalism." Why did this happen, according to Davis? Because "more than any other country, the United States in the post-war era lionized the individual at the expense of community and family."

That's right. He believes that America has too much respect for the individual.

Fascinatingly, we agree with his premise, that American exceptionalism is basically a lost value. However, it's for a very different reason.

America doesn't have enough respect for the individual.

It's been a while since we've talked about some of these fundamental premises of libertarian thought. But we're going to delve into them today.

And you'll see that our recent focus on self-development, entrepreneurship, and the creation of Nomadic Wealth are direct products of our beliefs about individualism and our desire for liberty.
