According
to a recent survey by Statistics  Canada,
35% of households found it difficult to meet their financial needs in the past
year. Out of these households, 26% said they would be unable to cover an
unexpected expense of $500. Women were slightly more likely to report this
difficulty than men (29% vs 24%). The survey also found that almost half (44%)
of Canadians were very concerned about their household's ability to afford
housing or rent. These results come from the Canadian Social Survey on Quality
of Life and Cost of Living, conducted from October 21 to December 4, 2022, in
response to rising economic inflation.
