Dr. Tori Brown wears many hats when it comes to providing services to others in Tampa Bay and beyond. She has an extensive background in business development, learning, consulting, community, and non-profit organizations. The mission of Fresh Community Development Inc is to provide cost-effective resources to low-income families in need of financial and business literacy to improve their chances for access to housing or homeownership. She is leading a team of board of directors to do just that.

After assisting 47 families with becoming homeowners during an international pandemic, it was inevitable that the next steps would be to impact a larger community. Increasing homeownership in black and brown communities is a step in the direction of closing the wealth gap between black and white. The celebration of diversity is very important for Dr. Brown.

Helping everyone have access to homeownership is the goal of the programs that she creates. Just as black, brown, and white exist; so, does have and have not, poor, working poor, and living in poverty. We all have a role to play when it comes to coming together to fight the fists of poverty. This book The Color of Homeownership is just one of the tools. She joined me this week to tell me more.
