As a woman
ages her sense of responsibility increases.
She often shoulders the burden of maintaining everyone in her support system.
So, much so her own physical health doesn’t become a priority.  As women their ability to lose weight becomes
more challenging.  According to the
National Institute of Health: For women weight gain coexists with a decline in lean mass. The
proportion of lean mass is positively associated with BMR, a component of
energy expenditure. Slow metabolic rate in menopausal women decreases their capacity to
effectively burn calories promoting a positive calorie balance.

Kim Rahir,
is a health coach for middle aged women helping them to drop weight, get strong
and boost energy by leveraging muscle mass and mindset work.

 Her story offers inspiration
and insight through her personal path of being diagnosed with multiple
sclerosis 10 years ago before she turned 50, and winning a European Masters
Weightlifting Championship this year. Her story has inspired her to show women
how muscle (building and maintaining) can be a health elixir and sometimes a
road to salvation - once they have embraced the idea of becoming strong and
that it’s not a pursuit exclusive to men. The thing is that many midlife women
think it’s too late - it never is. It’s her mission to spread that message of
hope.

“I’m a former journalist
turned health coach, a survivor of MS turned European Champion in Master
Weightlifting - and on a mission to help middle aged women embrace muscle and
strength as the one-stop-shop solution for a host of health problems often from
our thirties onwards. My approach is to turn scientific knowledge about human
health into actionable tool kits for everyday life.” She joined me this
week to tell me more.
