Welcome to Lessons From The Front with National Relay Emeritus Dill Driscoll, National Relay Director Matt Fryman, and National Relay Medic and Ambassador Smitty Searles! Just days following the success of the first Dallas Memorial March, Dill Driscoll was brought in to expand Carry The Load from a 20 hour event in Dallas, to a movement across the country. In May 2012, Dill and the team stepped off from West Point, NY to begin the 27-day journey down the East Coast as the first route of the national relay began. Today's four National Relays are managed by our National Relay Director Matt Fryman. Matt began his journey with Carry The Load in 2014 as a leg captain on the National Relay. Matt now coordinates the logistics of the 15,500 mile journey through 45 states to make sure our mission touches as many lives as possible.National Relay Medic, Smitty Searles, is one of just a handful of people who has Carried The Load on every National Relay. When not working on the Relay, the Minnesota native serves La Crosse, WI as a paramedic. Each of these patriots has played an important role in the success of our mission. These are their Lessons From The Front.
