Associate Curator of Native American Art Jill Ahlberg Yohe stopped in to chat with the team. Currently the Co-Curator of the Minneapolis Institute of Art’s “Hearts of Our People: Native Women Artists” exhibit, Jill is surrounded by a whirlwind of excitement. She helped helm a 21 person Advisory Board to select the best of Native American women’s art. The first show to solely feature Native American women artists, the exhibit spans ancient to contemporary times, featuring works of art, pottery and ceramics, audio stories, garments and many more. Jill is proud of creating a new blueprint for future curators to follow by employing the talents of the large Native American and art communities. Along with chatting about the exhibit, she also shares some revealing stories from her younger years, paving the way for a life of deep immersion in Native American culture.
