This episode focuses on my friend's experience with Postpartum Psychosis, a topic that needs more worldly attention and awareness brought to it. Postpartum Psychosis is a serious mental health issue that has been overlooked for generations in our health community. Roughly 1 in 500 mothers are affected by Postpartum Psychosis within two weeks of giving birth to their beautiful baby. During this time, a mother's worldly perspective changes with delusions and sometimes even hallucinations, all of which feel very real to them. Postpartum Psychosis is not the same as postpartum depression, so please take a moment to educate yourself, and if you are an expecting parent, ask these questions of your doctors.
