The tension, conflict, and difficulty in the sexual relationship seem ‘normal’ today. Jesus, however, challenges us to recognise that ‘it was not this way in the beginning’ (Matthew 19:8). In the beginning, man and woman experienced the free-flow of God’s ‘wine’ (divine love) between them. The tragedy of the original sin is that we have all ‘run out of wine’. But the good news of the gospel is that Christ came to restore God’s wine to the sexual relationship in superabundance.
